Who would have thought a handful of spinach and lettuce could bring so much fun and joy!!!
Not far from me live two giant tortoises...I always thought the one I was feeding lettuce to was Isobel, but no it turns out thats Ignatius...above is Isobel after munching on some spinach and lettuce...giving me a high five!!
Isobel roams freely around her beautiful gardens at will and often pops over to see her friend Ignatius who is in his large enclosure..
I think he get quite amorous and a bit much for dear old Isobel..as she went up to say hello to him he was puffing away and desperately trying to get closer to her...
It was a brief encounter.... then she was off to take me on a tour round her gardens...
I followed on mesmerized by her.. these Tortoises live a very long time, I believe one died in India at the age of 255 in 2006 in a Calcutta Zoo.
She led me to the giant chess board..I moved the knight...wonder if the owner may think...my my my..Isobel.....
and all this fun just from bringing some left over lettuce and spinach which would have been thrown into the un-recyclable bin...

Where is this Catherine? Amazing that they roam free.
